Luke 9: 18-27 "Questions"
A prayer, in the form of a collect, based on a bible reading from today's lectionary
A collect based on Luke 9:18-27 (Click to here to read the passage)
Christ who asks “Who do you say I am?”
You asked many questions, many many questions, because you knew the answers would reveal our hearts, who we really are.
Help us to discover that answers, all answers, are already known; secretly hidden within your presence in us, within your love. They do not always need to be spoken.
For then we can be freed from searching, always searching, and freed to live, freed to let go, freed to follow you.
Amen.
I hope you find this prayer a useful way to reflect on the passage today and a useful way into closer relationship with Christ. Jesus is recorded as asking 307 questions in the Gospels. He is asked 187 and only answers 3! So, perhaps we can seek to imitate this spirit of discovery and enquiry that Jesus modelled and not always rush to give our answers, especially the right answers.
With peace and best wishes, Steve
