Luke 12: 13-21 "The Rich Fool"
A prayer, in the form of a collect, based on a bible reading for today.
A collect based on Luke 12: 13-21 (Click here to read the passage)
Generous and compassionate God, you fill the hungry with good things and send the rich away empty.
And yet greed, born of fear and anxiety, turns goods into gods, and we shut ourselves off from one another and from you.
So, when we seek security by storing up our treasures help us become vulnerable to you; finding shelter under the shadow of your wings.
For there we will discover an overflowing spirit that knows wealth in your abundant love, and riches in your eternal presence.
Amen.
I hope you find the prayer a useful way to reflect on, and stay with, the bible passage today. Thank you for taking the time to read it.
The artwork today is by a Kazakhstan artist, Nelly Bube. I have struggled to find out much about Nelly who has apparently painted 40 of Jesus’ parables. If you find a site dedicated to Nelly Bube’s work then please let me know. Thank you.
