John 19:38-42 “They laid Jesus there”
Christ, whose body was wrapped in linen, soaked in spices, and laid within the tomb.
Great care and extravagance was bestowed upon your body by those who only knew you partially; in secret, or at night. Those on the margins whilst you were alive found themselves in the right place to offer you a dignity in your dying.
On this Holy Saturday we acknowledge that all we have known is changing, all we took to be true is to be questioned. Those on the edges are now in the heart of your story, death promises to be transformed into life, and the tomb will become the womb of rebirth.
Help us to let go of all we know to be true. May our hearts and minds be opened to the possibility of signs and wonders, as yet unimagined.
Amen.
Yes - exciting!
