John 15:9-17 "Friends"
A prayer, in the form of a collect, based on a bible reading for today which remembers 'Matthias' the Apostle.
A collect based on John 15:9-17 (click here to read the bible passage)
The reading today is not from Luke because the church is remembering Matthias, who was selected as an Apostle to replace Judas Iscariot. The reading is therefore to be read in this context and the focus is on following Christ and becoming more like Christ, and being Christ to those we encounter in our lives.
Christ you love us because you are love.
You choose us and call us friends because we are your sisters and brothers, and you invite us to choose love, to choose you in return.
When it isn't easy to be loved and to be loving, make space for us to walk alongside you, be with you, and learn from you.
So, love grows between us and becomes who we are too.
Amen
